Frequently Asked Questions
How accurate is the wingspan method?
Within about half an inch for most people. A pro-shop measurement with a draw-check bow is the gold standard, but wingspan Γ· 2.5 is the accepted starting point used by nearly every bow manufacturer.
What happens if my draw length is set wrong?
Too long causes string slap, poor back tension and floating anchor points; too short cramps your form and costs speed. Either way accuracy suffers, so it is worth getting right before you buy.
Is draw length the same for compound and recurve?
The measurement method is the same, but compounds are set to a fixed draw length while recurve draw length varies slightly with your anchor and form.
