Review Methodology

Every product score on this site comes from the same rubric, so a 9.0 means the same thing in every review.

How we score (out of 10)

  • Performance (35%) β€” measured speed, accuracy and consistency at the range.
  • Build quality (25%) β€” materials, fit and finish, durability over the test period.
  • Usability (20%) β€” setup, tuning, adjustability, ergonomics for the target archer.
  • Value (20%) β€” what it costs versus what it delivers and what else that money buys.

Test protocol

  1. Bows are shot for a minimum of 200 arrows across at least two sessions.
  2. Speeds are chronographed at the listed draw weight and length, not taken from the box.
  3. Sights, rests and releases are tested on multiple bows where possible.
  4. Budget gear is judged against its price class, then flagged where it competes above it.

When we have not tested something

Research-based picks (aggregated owner feedback, spec analysis, expert interviews) are labeled as such β€” and they never receive a tested score.
